Fun Stuff and a Contest

All of the Knit Picks stuff arrived today and I must say I've very excited to have it in the shop. I made an error on my previous post - the Yarn Swifts actually retail for $55.49 and the Ball Winders for $22.49 - both together are now about the same price of either the ball winder or swifts that I used to carry. Also, in the box were sets of blocking wires - lots of them for just $22.49 plus pins - oh and the Harmony Wood Interchangeables - gorgeous!

So now for the contest - the lovely Roxanne from Zen Yarn Garden is having a yarn spun especially for Pick Up Sticks - it will be a sport weight available in 12 exclusive colorways. So far the yarn is nameless so we've decided to turn that over to all of you. The winner of the contest will receive a free skein of the new yarn in the color of their choice. So here's the details:

Yarn Content: 40% Superwash Merino, 30% Alpaca, 20% Cashmere, 10% Silk

100g=215yds

So put your thinking caps on ......certainly you are all more ingenious then we've proven to be! Please leave a comment - winner will be decided by Roxanne!

Hey - one more thing - did you see the new pattern that Meghan Jackson put up for free on Ravelry - it's awesome - uses one skein of anything - yup -anything!

Gamma Ray
So pretty! Such a great idea!

My suggestions are:
Winter Dreams (because we have 8 feet of snow, and I'm dreaming of sunshine)

Heartland (being so close to Valentine's Day and all)

Nirvana, or Halcyon (things that speak of peace, or tranquility)

Maple Syrup (Spring will be here soon, and the sap will start running)

How about "Inspiration"? How could that scrumptious blend NOT inspire you to create something gorgeous with it...!

I would call it "Dream Fleece" - just because so many animals are involved! LOL

I would call it Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.

I know, it's long, so maybe supercali for short?

I would call it Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious .

Since this is so long, you can shorten it to Supercali!

My suggestion is Cloud, because that yarn sounds soft and fluffy and heavenly.

I have two suggestions. In keeping with the Spanish theme (Pelusa), how about "Alegria" (with an acute accent on the i) meaning joy or "Encantada" meaning charmed or delighted depending on the context.

Since we are having 50F weather today with sunshine in Minnesota in February, I have two suggestions:

Sunshine ... Makes Me Happy (or just Sunshine)

and

Indian Spring (I don't know if there is such a thing, but I know this beautiful weather won't last for long).

My suggestion:

"Blissful"

How about Sunshine or Indian Spring?!

What about Covet? I probably can't enter though, can I? If it's chosen, random number can pick yarn winner! : )

How about Zenderilla? Something wonderful transforms into something even better!

How about Zenderella? Something already beautiful in one way turns into something even more beautiful.

BlissX4 for the four wonderful fibers in this exquisite sounding yarn blend. My fingers can't wait to experience knitting with this!

My suggestion is Meralca in keeping with the blend.

synesthesia

because it means: Synesthesia is a perceptual condition of mixed sensations: a stimulus in one sensory modality (e.g., hearing) involuntarily elicits a sensation/experience in another modality (e.g. vision).

and i think that's perfect for zen yarn garden's yarns!

My suggestion is Sheen-y Serendipity - for its lovely sheen and I believe it's one's good fortune to be able to knit with such gorgeous yarn! :)

I imagined holding this new yarn thinking just how luxurious it would feel. It makes me think of Velvet.
so.. in italian .. velutto

My suggestion: "Radiance" I think it would suit the shiny silk content, and the fuzziness of the alpaca. Also, I think everyone wearing a piece they made from this delicious looking yarn will be radiating with joy!!

I have 2 variations on a theme:
* Growing Warmth (because beautiful warm things grow in the Zen Yarn Garden)
* or Glowing Warmth (because it just sounds better)

How about Smack or Smacks?

Superwash
Merino
Alpaca
Cashmere
Silk

The yarn is deliciously addictive!

How about calling the yarn "Halo" because of the content/makeup of it. It would be heavenly to knit with!

I like the name Serendipity. It has lots of different fibers and it will be just what I need when I don't know what I need.

When I saw the fiber content I just thought of decadent or "decadente"
