And we're back.....

we arrived home from Florida last Wednesday - Thursday was taken up with laundry and grocery shopping. That 19 year old boy of ours left us with nothing to drink or eat - not even a slurp of milk for morning coffee. Urrrr!

This was our home away from home for the time we were away - a wonderful 3 bedroom pool home. It's the second year we've stayed in this particular house and we've already booked for next year. We extended our holiday for the Easter weekend but had to move houses.

This was our second home - a bit smaller but still just as nice.

After I finished the Noro Blanket I had to knit a sweater for my mother in law to give as a gift. I chose the Tulips cardigan is some really girly colors. It whipped up in a snap and I'm sure she'll be very pleased. In fact, let's have a little contest. Name the yarn colorways in the sweater in the order that they appear and you will win a skein of Dream in Color Starry in your choice of color. Starry isn't here yet but it will be so let's have some fun! There will be a draw to determine the winner if there are more than one correct guess.

Mark your calendars because next Saturday, April 25 is the Knitter's Frolic in Toronto. If you are a knitter, then this is the place to be. Tons of vendors selling all sorts of fabulous yarn. I love shopping there as much as I love having a booth. Be sure and drop by to say hello!

C'est Finis!

The Noro Kureyon Log Cabin is finished except for sewing in the ends! The colors didn't photograph too well but I'm very proud of it! It was a long project but worth every stitch.

Oh and this - this is where I spend most days!

Florida or Bust

We are on the way to Florida for our yearly vacation - currently we are holed up in a hotel in Brunswick, Georgia after two days of long, rainy drives. I absolutely cannot stand the drive - that is until I discovered the back seat this year. Emma was having bouts of feeling car sick so we traded spots and I figured out that I am really much happier in the back. I can't see the traffic, the brakes lights that suddenly go in when we are all going 70 mph - I'm blissfully unaware back there and can knit, read or sleep to my heart's content. I think Greg is much happier too because I'm not sighing or clutching the door handle - I do take a turn at driving to give him a break and I am fine when I'm driving - must have something with my need to control stuff :0



I brought only unfinished projects with me - no new yarn, can you believe that? I wanted to - a bunch of new Handmaiden arrived before I left and it was all I could do to leave it alone - there is a method to my madness - I figure with only UFOs I will be certain to go home with something finished.
I even brought the Noro Log Cabin in the car - all the squares are done - the strips of squares are done and now I'm putting it all together. Here's a photo I took last night in Summersville, WV while standing on the bed and holding the camera as high as I could. Two strips together - my next additions should match up a bit better because I've counted all the cast on stitches for each square to make sure they match - I'm sure it will all be fine after a good blocking. So...it's off to bed for me....6 more hours of driving then it's a chair by the pool for me, with my book. ahhhh.

I've been wanting to, meaning to, trying to blog for the last few days - I'm either in the same location as the camera and don't have time OR I have time but the camera is at the shop. So....here's what I've been hard at work on - #15 is currently on the needles! I've have to plan the order that they are going to be and I've just got in the Black Cascade 220 for the border so I'm almost ready to put it together. Everyone who knows me thinks it's a miracle I'm still at these square with no end in sight. I even went to the supplier to buy six more colorways of Kureyon that I didn't have in stock to finish it. How self serving is that? Although, I know some of you are working on it too so that's good for you too, right?


Summer yarns have started to arrive and I've done a big shuffle of the store so now you are greeted by all kinds of summery, pastly, shiny yarn when you come in.



The little cylinders of yarn are the perfect substitution for Debbie Bliss Prima - and less expensive and made in Britain. It's actually the identical blend and such similiar colors that it seemed like a no brainer to me. I've got the magazines in stock too - these are my new favorite knitting magazine.





Here's Pure Pima by Berrocco - and Norah Gaughan Volume 4 is also here. I just found out today that Berrocco will credit me back for 2 sample garments a year - no one else does that.



Next week I'm off to Wigamog Inn in Haliburton for a few days with both of my daughters and my two grandchildren. We are joining my sister in law, mother in law and niece and nephew. It should be fun...and a nice break! Florida is just around the corner too and I must say I can't wait to feel the sun again after this crappy winter!

Yes...yes...yes

I'm still here....I can't believe how time flies! I took a week off after Grandpa's funeral to re-coup, recharge, relax and reflect. I'm feeling much, much better now. And I have been knitting - I am completely and utterly addicted to this. I defy you to see it and then not want to run out and buy all the Kureyon you can find and get busy. I'm on my 7th square with no signs of boredom or moving on to another project. I'm thinking I really need to get a handle on my WIPs - it kind of scares me to really look at that situation all that closely.

Have you seen the new Debbie Bliss magazine? 'sigh' I love Debbie Bliss, I really do, I think her designs are brilliant. I've ordered the new Prima and Eco that is predominantly featured in the magazine but if you can't wait for that - apparently, Sirdar Baby Bamboo is a perfect substitute.

I've also ordered new Noro yarns for summer, Cascade Fixation, Tofutsies and the sales reps will be visiting this week - Berrocco, Misti Alpaca - I love seeing all the new yarns!
