This is not SMART.

My neighbor drives one of these and today I was shocked to see it pull out onto our road. I'm all for the environment and everything but driving this on a day like today is just not SMART. They practically have bicycle tires and I swear if you ran over it, it would just feel like a little bump. The roads are still snow covered and slippery - it would have been SMART to leave this baby in the garage. My husband drives a dump truck which when fully loaded weighs over 75,000 lbs - how much chance would this SMART car have against a big DUMB dump truck. Oh and by the way - who named it the SMART car - what makes it smart?
Today was quite the drive in to work - I'm a big chicken when it comes to driving in the snow - not because I doubt my abilities but because I doubt everyone elses. This morning was a case in point. There were cars completely covered with snow speeding along the road, creating their own mini blizzards from all the snow blowing off them - driving as if it's the middle of June. Then there was the lady with no snow tires who pulled out to try and beat the snow plow coming along - she was inches from being scooped up - inches I say! When I passed her she was completely oblivious to what she had done - either that or she was so embarassed she dare not take her eyes from the road. Last night was no better - snow covered roads, poor visibility and some guy rushing to his funeral passed me at 60mph on a two lane country road with oncoming traffic. Seriously - what's the big rush? Every snow storm there are hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of accidents all over the place - hmmmm - is it bad roads or bad drivers? I know what I think......
Here's some knitting - just so you know I'm not completely grumpy!

Here's our darling Jeanette with her newly finished vest in Dream in Color Cocoa Kiss - this is Mary's sweater - she used Duets Sock Yarn - who'd a thunk it?
Hey it's Knit Night tonight! Come and join the fun if you can!

How hard is it....

to get a coffee order right? I made my regular stop today at Tim Horton's - ordered my regular large coffee, double sweetener and milk with a toasted
cinnamon raisin bagel and what did I get when I had my first big sip at the shop? TEA! Urrrrrr!

I have some finished sweaters to share!
This is the Adult Tulips - and I must say I love it! I didn't think I would like it with the colors I picked but the sweater really comes together with the trim etc. I used Cocoa Kiss for the trim and for the 4th color but two different dyelots.

I'm madly in love with Dream in Color yarn - I've planned another Tulips, another Lucy in the Sky Cardigan and another Baby Surprise Jacket for Quinn.

Here's Imogen from Perl Grey knit for the shop by Angela. The colorway is Cosmic Dawn - it's really nice too! So nice, in fact that I've ordered lots more for the shop and of course, one for me.

I'm here all alone today so it was a good time to blog - I really need to blog more regularly, don't you think?

Finally A Big Tulips!

Happy New Year to Everyone! Here's what I spent my New Year's Eve doing - working on my own Tulips cardigan. This is actually one of two combos that I have picked out - the other was much more pastel - y and much more my style but I decided to strike out and do something different. So far, I'm thrilled with the results. I'm just about to put the sleeves on scrap yarn which hopefully will get done today. I've actually arranged to have all week off from the shop - I must admit though I feel a bit a loose ends. Everyone is placing bets on whether or not I can actually stay away - we'll see......no promises! So here's the colors I choose for this cardigan:

Dream In Color Classy
Strange Harvest Semi Solid Orange
Strange Harvest
Spring Tickle
Cocoa Kiss
November Muse Semi Solid
Trim: Cocoa Kiss

The semi solids are exclusive to Pick Up Sticks - Veronica did an amazing job with them. Have I told you how much I love this yarn? Oh - I have some new yarn making it's debut at the shop - hopefully this week - Blue Heron Beaded Wool - gorgeous colorways. Veronica recommended it to me as one of her favorites so of course, I had to try it.

Anyone have any New Year's Resolutions? I'll tell you mine if you tell me yours! :)

Gifting Results!

I had two projects to finish for Christmas - I meant to knit for more people but time got away from me. I still have to finish a shawl for my grandmother but she was called to say that her knitting wasn't finished. She did receive gifts from me - just no knitting!

At the request of my sister-in-law Joey - there are no faces to these pictures - cute as she is

-she didn't seem to want her face plastered all over the internet!

The top picture is Joey and my mother in law, Joanna both modelling their sweaters. I was so thrilled that they both fit and that they were both appreciated. Joey's is made from Dream in Color Cocoa Kiss - the pattern is Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. Joanna's is a Blue Sky Alpaca Worsted Handdye Simple Tunic - I think the pattern was a Knitting Pure and Simple one - Joanna loves the color red and the Montreal Canadians so this color was the perfect choice for her. She also coaches boys hockey so it will definitely keep her warm at the rink!

Some pictures of Emma and Quinn - and Quinn, Emma and Liam all in the Christmas pj's courtesy of me...

And here's my boy, Jeremy and my father in law, Art who is recovering beautifully from his bypass surgery!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and spent lots and lots of time with people you love!

It's A Good Knitting Day!

Have you seen it? The Winter Knitty is live! This is the pattern that Amy Singer predicts to be one of the "it" patterns - as in everyone is knitting it!

Jeanie is a work of art! She takes 3 skeins of Smooshy from Dream in Color! I got the ad for this so I've been able to stock up on this yarn!

Indigo Moon Vancouver Series arrived yesterday! Thanks so much Trish for sending the sample shawl. This is the Landscape Shawl from Fiber Trends. Patterns are on the way to the shop. It's so cuddly - just perfect for snuggling up in the crazy winter weather we've been having!
